about reWORKit

Does your union local need a web makeover?

While many union locals are looking to improve their web presence, it is difficult to prioritize their website and online communications when bargaining, grievances, committee work, member education, etc… need to take top priority.  At the same time, locals don’t have a lot of money to sink into expensive web consultation companies.

reWORKit’s focus is on helping locals in 3 main areas:

  • Building effective web-based communication with their members as well as the public.  This includes websites, campaign sites specific to particular organizing drives or campaigns, members-only areas.
  • Improving online organizing skills including: social media strategizing & effective email communication (so important and overlooked!)
  • Learning to maintain and update their site.

About Darren Puscas, founder of reWORKit

My background is in labour and social justice movements.  I have worked as a researcher with both the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and on a multi-year McMaster University project on women and unionization.  I was also an executive member/Chief Steward of my Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) local and conducted extensive research with various public sector unions for a Polaris Institute project on privatization of public services.

I have an extensive web production and communications background. For a clearer sense of my web communication and social media skills, have a look at the various sites I have produced and coordinated.

I have a strong commitment to union renewal as a force for protecting workers rights and promoting social justice.  I am also a member of the Canadian Freelance Union (CEP Local 2040) and have my M.A. in Labour Studies.

Using my labour movement experience and strong technical know-how, I can help build your local’s web presence.
